The mission of Food from the Heart is to alleviate hunger by providing reliable, consistent and sustainable food support to the less-fortunate through food distribution programmes.
It was established in February 2003 and initially focused on collecting surplus food from bakeries to give to those in need. It has expanded operations over the years and now runs a number of programs and has several community “shops”. The Community Shop functions as a mini-mart for beneficiaries and operates on a shop-for-free concept.
Each Food from the Heart Community Shop also has a 24/7 food drop. See details below.
