One painful video of a straw embedded in the nose of a turtle set the world on fire. Plastic straws are perhaps the most hated plastic of all time. 

But is trading in plastic straws for metal ones the right takeaway? If you have a regular need for straws then maybe so… 

But perhaps the better takeaway is this: reduce all consumption of single-use materials and when you use them, dispose of them properly.
