Linseed has special properties which make it the top choice for seasoning cast iron pans and also as the base for many oil based paints.
Linseed oil can thin the consistency of paint, making it smoother and easier to mix with other pigments that are used to color paint.

While technically recyclable into bio-gas, the volumes of flaxseed oil make it unsuitable for recycling.
The glass bottle is, however, recyclable so put the oil into a sealed plastic disposable bottle when you throw it out.
