Book exchange corner at the Public Library

Drop off your old books and magazines IN GOOD CONDITION and/or pick one up and take it home. The library free shelves can be found near the entrance of many public libraries around Singapore.

As at 25 Apr 2024, the NLB has informed us that the following libraries had free shelves:

  • Ang Mo Kio Public Library
  • Bedok Public Library
  • Bishan Public Library
  • Geylang East Public Library
  • Jurong Regional Library
  • Queenstown Public Library
  • Woodlands Regional Library

A member of the public has also said there is a book exchange corner which was not included in the NLB list:

  • Toa Payoh Public Library

We have not independently verified this report.

Note that the following libraries no longer have shelves:

  • Central Public Library (removed when library was renovated)
  • Marine Parade Public Library (under renovation)
  • Jurong West Public Library (library said it is permanently closed)
  • Yishun Public Library 

Note, per the info linked: “For public libraries located within shopping malls, NLB has less flexibility to support book exchange corners due to space constraints and the need to share common areas with other co-located tenants. ”

Accepted Items

Books should not be damaged. Do NOT drop off loose paper, pamphlets, flyers, catalogues, or filled in workbooks. NO toys, CDs, tapes, etc. Only books. Please take care of the library free shelves!
