When discarded, magazines are classified as "mixed paper" waste. It is lower value than cardboard and plain black and white printed paper but it still has value in the recycling market so you can usually get some money for it at cash for trash events.
Comic books that are printed on coloured glossy paper are the same.
So are posters and wall charts (as long as they are not laminated).
