Unlike Nespresso aluminum capsules, there are no recycling programmes in Singapore for plastic coffee capsules.

These capsules can be made of various plastics some of which are technically recyclable and others not.

These are not recyclable for a number of reasons:

  • due to their small size, they are filtered out at the material recovery facility ("MRF")
  • they often contain food waste (ie coffee) therefor do not belong in a recycling bin at all
  • the plastic they are made may not be recylable and even if it is, it is virtually never economically feasible to do so
