Tips & Suggestions
While some food cans are aluminum, most are made of steel. Want to know the difference? Test it with a magnet. Steel cans are magnetic. Aluminum cans are not.
Info & Insights
Food tins are mostly made of steel which is a high value material in the recycling system. As long as you get it into a recycling bin or passed along to another recycling channel like Karung Guni, it will definitely get recycled.
Both steel and aluminum cans are highly recyclable and are usually coated with a thin layer of plastic to prevent any interaction between the food and the metal. This plastic film does not interfere with recycling.
